The world is changing. For years, everyone believed that vampires were mythical and make-believe creatures. They were simply figures of imagination in stories told to children to keep them behaving. Now, however, with the revolutionary creation of Tru Blood vampires have revealed themselves to the world (most jokingly refer to it as “coming out of the coffin”) and have taken the first steps into incorporating themselves into being able to live their lives without having to hide their true selves. Many wish to mainstream, and do so by surviving on Tru Blood, rather than the blood of humans. Of course, this manufactured product is no where near the real thing, but those who choose to mainstream have decided that they would rather survive on something less than satisfactory rather than feed off of humans, now that they are trying to openly live with those that were once their prey. Some vampires, however, have made the transition to mainstreaming incredibly difficult for others, refusing to give up their predatory ways. So, they are faced with a lot of prejudice and discrimination.
However, where most people only discriminate and possibly sneer at the sight of a vampire, a group of people have taken it a step further. They call themselves the Fellowship of the Sun, and they are a church that has formed and expanded since the vampires revealed themselves. They believe themselves to be the righteous do-gooders, carrying out God’s will, and that the vampires are evil and nothing more than the children of Satan himself. They hate and detest any and all things vampire, and have no limits when it comes to making sure that the entire world knows their beliefs on how “evil” these beings are. They make public announcements, do protests, and even have camps to recruit new members to the church, all the while, holding a happy smiley image to make themselves appear like the good guys. Because how could a church ever be wrong, right?
In response to the Fellowship, the vampires fighting for their own public and civil rights banded together to create the American Vampire League. These are a group of public speakers and civil right activists, fighting peacefully to end the discrimination against vampires that most humans seem to hold. They know that humans may fear them because of the stories that all have surely hold, but these leaders of the vampire community want nothing but peace and understanding with the humans.
And this is where our story begins, in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. The Fellowship and The League are battling through words and wit to win the favor of the people, and the citizens are choosing their sides.
Where side will you chose?
